We know that there are folks who see someone else’s work, and just get blown away. Well, that was our immediate reaction on seeing images by Daichi Yamamoto, a New York based photographer who has been living in Senegal for over a year now. According to Daichi, he decided to move to Senegal after a few trips because of the originality in the fashion within the country. “When I came to Senegal initially, I was shocked to see that the people everywhere dress up naturally and beautifully with these African dresses.” says Daichi. “Literally everyone you get to meet can be seen wearing African prints and all these beautiful colours deeply touched me. As a fashion, it’s not polished like US or Europe but no other place has raw beauty like Africa. Media always tells a sad part of Africa so I wanted to show the beautiful culture of Africa through my lens.”
