Vanessa is smart, beautiful and an exciting talent from Tanzania

“It felt really cool becoming Tanzania’s first ever MTV VJ! giggles Vanessa Mdee. “I was nervous and insecure but I don’t think anyone could tell watching me on screen, with the amount of energy I put into it you would think I have been doing it for years!
Vanessa Hau Mdee is a 24 year old MTV VJ, Choice FM DJ, HIV/AIDS Activist, Model, Speaker, Singer and a true lover of Art from Tanzania. She became the first ever MTV VJ from Tanzania back in 2007 and her drive and passion for her job has propelled her to be recognized as one of the most popular VJ’s in Africa. Since her time as a VJ “VJ stands for Video Jockey“, she has hosted shows in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Angola, Uganda, DRC, and back home in Tanzania and across the border in America and Brazil. Vanessa is like every other normal young beautiful and vibrant African lady; she loves fashion, music, shoes and maybe a little bit addicted to glamour though a little bit of Glamour Addiction never hurt no one.
Back in 2008, she got the opportunity to work with The Staying Alive FoundationA NGO started by MTV that supports innovative projects to stop HIV before it even starts ” and visited Uwanja wa Fisi” aka Hyena square a “section” of Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania” with the then Staying Alive Foundation Special Ambassador Kelly Rowland. Ever since her visit to this rural community, Vanessa has remained committed to the foundation and she still pays regular visits to take part in humanitarian activities with the youth groups. She also joined another humanitarian campaign that same year “Malaria No More in their Z!nduka Campaign” a campaign aimed at the eradication of Malaria which she feels is very important because of the amount of deaths Malaria causes every year.
