It’s that time again: After the overwhelming response to the first two shows and there exclusive Fashion Dinner, Africa Fashion Day Berlin is back again with a vibrant show featuring international designers from Africa and the African Diaspora. Africa Fashion Day Berlin sponsored by Breeze Berlin announces Brian Rennie, the so-called “designer with the Hollywood gene” as patron for this season.

Nigerian designer Samson SOBOYE will present his colourful and sophisticated collection during our Runway Show on 8th of July (Today) at 9.30 pm at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in the Erika-Heß-Eisstadion (EHE) in Berlin Wedding.

Furthermore Nana K. Brenu’s label 1981 will show that a modern design ethos and a rich and vibrant Ghanaian heritage can coexist harmoniously.

Finally you will have the chance to look at the modern South African knitwear from MaXhosa by Laduma. His vision is to create a modern Xhosa-inspired knitwear collection that would be suitable for amakrwala, the traditional Xhosa initiation. Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Chief Mandla Mandela, was fascinated by Laduma’s design and bought a complete collection.

Top model Marie Amière has been head hunted as casting director for this show. Let yourself be carried away by an extraordinary show with exceptional fashion. Former editor-in-chief of Elle, Beate Wedekind is leading this years press conference taking place on 7th of July at 11 am. Interviews and photocall will take place afterwards. Journalists are invited to arrange available time slots in advance to ensure a smooth and organised process for all involved. Please note that there is separate accreditation for the press conference which will be organised with our partner, the Westerwelle Foundation. Additionally four young designers from Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa will have the opportunity to present their Spring/Summer 2015 Collections from 8th-10th of July in cooperation with the Premium Exhibition. Besides 1981 by Nana K. Brenu and MaXhosa by Laduma who has been nominated Premium Young Fashion Award the nationally renown designer Loux the Vintage Guru will introduce his exquisite and eccentric collection to the German audience. In 201,4 he won the award as Best Male Designer of the Year in Ghana. In addition, young designer Alexandra Tamele (Mozambique) will debut with a creative mix of modern cuts and traditional fabrics at an international fashion trade show for the high-fashion segment.
