Craig Port fr Black and white colour blocking and amazing detailing – We just can’t get
enough of the Craig Port look

Craig Port’s 2014 Summer collection “A Better Future” was born after a visit to the David Bowie is retrospective exhibition in London which saw the designer journey through Bowie’s amazing career of reinvention and innovation. A musical avant-gardist and creative icon, Bowie, had a profound effect on Craig’s perception of modern culture and the power of transformation through design. A day spent entertaining Bowie and his supermodel wife Iman when they visited Cape Town further cemented his fascination for the most innovative of performers and inspired him to design A BETTER FUTURE. The 2014 collection takes a futuristic spin with monochromatic black and white colour blocking, bold geometrics and vertical stripes all accented with lumo teaberry detailing. Fabrics have a performance edge with technical memory capabilities equipped for a brave new world. Leather, scuba, Birdseye mesh and techno sheen materials give the collection a hi-tech functional edge. Below are a few images from the collection off the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town:-

A BETTER FUTURE sees a shift in menswear silhouettes with the introduction of boxy cuts and slim fits. Garment lines reference nineties shapes whilst mapping new territories for the modern wearer. Boiler suits, running shorts and jodhpurs offer the progressive man options for all terrains. Racer front vests, American football sweaters, collarless button shirts and anoraks embody the spirit of the age and celebrate individualism. Craig’s take on the classic tuxedo adds a touch of Bowie fascination to the collection and splash of rock opulence.

Kim Govaars, Creative Director of the ladieswear, looked to Iman for inspiration. The black and white monochrome lends itself to simple, clean lines that effortlessly merges sports luxe with 90’s street. Long and statuesque silhouettes echoing the powerful supermodel revolution – sheath dresses in unconventional heavier fabrics contrasted with lightweight, sheer highlights of mesh, silk rayon and the finest georgettes. The brand is playful yet daring and allows you to look like the individual you are.
