N’kya Designs Spring Summer 2013 Collection “OBAA” – Runway Shots
Our 2 Best Looks On the Runway
Following the successful launch of the ‘Dawn Collection‘ after relocating to Ghana, N’kya Designs shared with us some images from their Spring Summer 2013 Collection titled ‘OBAA’ – This collection was unveiled at Glitz Africa Fashion Week back in August in Accra, Ghana.
According to the designer, ‘OBAA’ is a Twi word for ‘Woman’ and the collection focuses on the qualities of a woman mainly her strength. The collection draws inspiration from strong women in society and how their roles have evolved causing a change in how women are portrayed. The collection also has snippets of the everyday woman and how hard they work to keep their homes together, from housewives to street-side hawkers to market traders to corporate workers. Her strength is what gets her through and that’s what being a N’kya OBAA is all about, full of strength and confidence.
Each piece from this collection has splashes of the aptly named ‘Akyekyedi3-Akye’ wax print cloth. The name of this wax print translates to ‘A tortoise’s back’ which is well known for its Strength. This collection will appeal to women that are all about the N’kya – Sassy, Sexy and Stylish!
