American based photographer Charlton Hudnell sent us a fabulous set of photographs featuring a few gorgeous veils, head wraps and head scarves worn by women across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. “The inspiration behind Veil draws from the experiences I’ve encountered while travelling around the world,” says Charlton. “The purpose of the name Veil is to represent women of all ethnicities who cover some, if not all, of their hair,” he added. Check out these 10 adorable photos we completely love!

While I was in some parts of Africa, Europe and in the Middle East, I was not allowed to capture hijabs with respect to religion. However, I was able to capture women who covered their hair without religious intent. Upon returning to America recently, I was able to collaborate with a local business woman and re-create some of the various styles I had seen in different parts of the world. Initially, I was interested in the material, style and ornamental-like accessories used in each wrap. As time progressed, I became more intrigued with the ethnic variations of veils and began to attend various fashion demonstrations. My goal in this ongoing project is to capture veils from different ethnicities I encountered during my travels, says Charlton Hudnell.
