Q and A: Julio Batalia (Big Brother Africa Contestant)

Julio Batalia is a charming Tanzanian telecommunications expert who participated in the seventh season of the reality competition television series Big Brother Africa. Julio represented Tanzania with a partner in the house ‘Hilda Reiffenstein – an extremely gorgeous woman’. Julio was evicted with his partner during the first set of random nominations and ever since his departure from the game, he has never stopped being thankful for the experience. We had a chat with Julio to find out how life has been after the show and also to get a taste of his fashion style.

How was the Big Brother Africa experience and how was life in the house for you?

Big brother Africa is undoubtedly the biggest reality TV show in Africa and to be part of it this year was truly amazing. The downville house had so many different characters. Never have I seen such a coordinated heartfelt friendship that Chris and Ola had, it was like they were in their own show. Then came Seydou who pimped the house with his charm syndrome that was hard to resist. All the ladies were amazing; especially Zainab, Eve, Talia, Edith, Mildred and all the other super women including Hilda. My time with the guys was very different but welcoming. I connected with the likes of Keagan who was a very cool guy that could snap at any time, Wati who was a proper comedian when drunk, Nafe who was a chilled out gentleman, Lee the wise cracker that never goes wrong, Keitha who was the boss in the house till I left, Alex and Malonza who showed proper brotherhood from East Africa without forgetting Kyle who was a cool guy. The whole experience was fun even though I was shocked been evicted the first week because I was just starting to get a bit crazy and the viewers were going to get super entertainment but it’s OK. I put in on faith and better things to come.

How has life been after the BBA house?

Since leaving the Big Brother House, I have been swamped with praises from people who followed the show. Even though my time in the house was short-lived, the viewers still loved every moment of my time during the show. Fans in South Africa went crazy everywhere we went, we were recognized everywhere and girls were in tears not believing I was out; they wanted more of Julio. We got an awesome reception back home in Tanzania and the love keeps pouring in everywhere I go.

What are your plans for the future?

I am currently busy with my current work but open for any deals, charity or endorsement with telecoms or other brands because not only am I an entertainer, I am also a corporate figure and that’s why I wouldn’t mind anything from the corporate world coming my way. Acting and Rapping are definitely other things I would love to take part in though it has to be a big industry production because I live my life thinking Big!

Describe your fashion style

I am an all black everything kind of guy but when it comes to fashion I always believe that it’s not what you wear but who wears it. so I can put on any designers attire and still rock it better than a Super model would.
