Last week, hosted the inaugural Color of Beauty Awards, celebrating people of color within the style world. The series of events honored iconic supermodel Beverly Johnson, who became the first black model to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1974. Beverly was awarded the Fashion Icon Award for all her contribution to fashion and modelling worldwide. Global brand ambassador Bisila Bokoko was also honored with the Fashion With Compassion Award while actress and singer Priyanka Chopra was also honored with the Role Model of the Year AwardHeld at Eisner & Lubin Auditorium at New York University, the momentous occasion included 3 panels fostering intelligent conversations on fashion and luxury, entrepreneurship and beauty in relation to the multicultural consumer. The Color of Beauty Awards honored 9 winners for their continuing contributions to the world of fashion, beauty, culture and community. Hosted by artist and activist Eric Shabazz-Larkin, the evening featured celebrity award presenters Delaina Dixon of VH1’s The Gossip Table and Nana Meriwether, Miss USA 2012. DJ Shawn and Easton Edibles provided the honorees and distinguished guests with loads of great music and food. Check out a few images of the honorees who attended the event below and a list of who won what
